Why Do Plasterers Need Insurance?

Almost every business should consider public liability insurance. Whether you’re a contractor working on third-party properties or a small business owner dealing with customers, it protects against unexpected claims.
Some key sectors that benefit from public liability insurance include:

  • Tradespeople
  • Freelancers
  • Consultants
  • Couriers

Without liability insurance, even minor incidents, like damaging a client’s property, could lead to costly claims and legal fees, putting your business at financial risk. Protect your livelihood and reputation with the right coverage for your needs.

Managing Risks in Plastering Work
Plastering might seem low-risk compared to other trades, but accidents and damage can still happen – especially when working on-site, at height, or in occupied properties. Without insurance, plasterers could face:

  • Injury to clients, other contractors, or members of the public.
  • Accidental damage to walls, ceilings, fixtures, or property.
  • Loss, theft, or damage to tools and equipment.

Protecting Your Business From Costly Claims
Even a minor mistake can result in expensive claims or project delays. Plasterers insurance helps cover legal fees, compensation, and equipment replacement – keeping your business protected from unexpected costs.

Employers’ Liability Insurance – A Legal Must-Have
If you hire anyone, even temporarily, you must have employers’ liability insurance by law. It covers claims from staff who get injured or ill due to their work.

Insurance That Wins You More Work
Many clients, especially commercial developers or local authorities, won’t hire plasterers without proof of insurance. Public liability insurance shows you’re professional and protects both you and your client.

Is Insurance Mandatory for Self-Employed Plasterers?
Not legally, but public liability insurance is highly recommended. It protects your business if something goes wrong and helps you avoid paying out of pocket for claims.
